Oyster Cards Now Go To Gatwick!
It is now possible to get to Gatwick Airport with your Oyster or contactless payment card!
Not just Gatwick but also the five stations on the way – Horley, Salfords, Earlswood, Redhill and Merstham – are now able to take fees through Oyster and contactless cards instead of being billed separately, something which has hit many passengers in their wallet.
Until now, it would have cost travellers to Gatwick £15.40 for a ticket from London Victoria to Gatwick on the day. Now it will cost £14 at peak times and £8 at off-peak times – a substantial saving if travelling off-peak. The card readers went live today, the 11th of January.
Unfortunately, the Gatwick Express journey is still going to cost £19.80, only ten pence less than the paper ticket had cost.
The changes are designed to make journeys more convenient for passengers, and to help with overcrowding at stations.
